Four Mile Reserve

An idyllic riverside escape

Four Mile Reserve is a stunning retreat on the banks of the Barwon River, with rugged landscapes and ample free camping space. The prime riverside frontage offers a serene night under the stars and the perfect spot for fishing, boating and swimming – all set within a place of deep cultural significance.

Dreaming stories tell us the Rainbow Serpent, Wawei, travelled across the landscape creating the river, and then came to rest at the bend in the river where the water reaches its deepest depth – what we know today as Four Mile.

The cultural significance, the river’s deep stillness and the ever-flowing waters that have long sustained the community all combine to make this place truly extraordinary.

Fresh from a $1 million makeover, the revamped Four Mile Reserve features a suite of upgrades including new amenities, shaded BBQ area and seating, floating jetty, and formalised footpaths, roads and parking.
