Hospital Creek

A PLACE OF REMEMBRANCE

Seventeen kilometres north of Brewarrina, just a few metres before the Hospital Creek Bridge on the Goodooga Road, stands a quiet yet powerful memorial.

This site marks one of the most devastating massacres of First Nations people in NSW history.

In 1859, more than 300 men, women and children were killed by settlers in a tragic act of violence. Today, stone monuments laid by the Aboriginal Land Council of Brewarrina honour the lives lost and ensure this painful chapter is never forgotten.
